Membrane Bioreactor (NBR) Sewage treatment naturally occurs in nature, however as the population increases the natural waste treatment capabilities of a water stream or soil is lost, requiring artificial means to treat the sewage before it will be discharged to the environment. Discharging untreated wastewater to stream, river, and ocean causes pollution and water scarcity to the planet.
The water resource scarcity implies the need to reuse water and properly treat it to guarantee environmental protection before it will discharge to bodies of water. The growing environmental concerns over industrial wastewater disposal along with the declining freshwater resources across developing economies also accounts for the demand of MBR technology. An MBR is one of the best initial steps in the biological process, it is a combination of a suspended growth biological treatment method, usually activated sludge, with membrane filtration equipment used to perform the critical solid liquid separation function. Membrane bioreactor technology is regarded as key elements of advanced wastewater treatment and reuse schemes and it is focused to grow towards sustainable water management across the municipal and industrial sectors
Process Description
The equalization tank is the first collection tank in wastewater treatment plan, its main function is to act as a buffer to collect the incoming raw sewage that comes at widely fluctuating rates. Then lifting pump will move the waste water to primary sedimentation tank for solid liquid separation process of suspended particles that are heavier than water then the less dense than water particle will overflows to anoxic tank for anaerobic processes to stabilize the treatment of nitrogenous matter and phosphate following the oxic and MBR tank process where microorganisms with the help of the oxygen coming out of fine bubble diffusers will digest the organic matter in the wastewater that clump together producing a sludge. This sludge will enter the immersed membrane bioreactor where the membrane will separate the solids and microorganism from water. The product or permeate water coming from the MBR system will be conveyed by a suction pump going to clear the water tank with disinfection injected to the product line. Then the final product of MBR treatment will undergo Ultraviolet sterilization for final treatment before it will be used for irrigation or discharge to bodies of water.
